Implementation of E-Verify Rule for Federal Contractors is Postponed

Latest News

As a result of pending litigation filed against the government by the Society for Human Resource Management, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, Associated Builders and Contractors, HR Policy Association, and the American Council on International Personnel, the Department of Justice has delayed implementation of its rule requiring certain federal contractors of use the E-Verify system.

The rule, which was scheduled to become effective on January 15, 2009, will not be enforced until February 20, 2009. This means that the government will not include the E-Verify clause in any contract solicitations or awards issued before February 20, 2009. Expect the extension to become official once published in the Federal Register this week.
